Just some comments on the planners so you know what to expect. Most days, I'll have students write any upcoming assignments or dates in their planners. Generally, this will happen just before lunch. If there are papers to go home, I'll have them place them in the plastic sleeve in the front of the planner. I'll be signing the planners for the first few times, but will likely drop this practice once students get into the habit of using them regularly. It's not necessary for parents to sign them as I've historically found that this causes more stress than it's worth. However, I expect that both students and parents are reading the planner daily. Planners should be kept in the students' backpacks and they will likewise be kept in their backpacks at school too. If a student loses the planner, I expect him/her to replace it with something similar (any dayplanner) at the earliest convenience. We typically do not have additional planners. |
