Class Meeting
I'll be retaking the class photo this morning in our class meeting as the picture didn't take very well last Friday. We also need to think of a good theme day for our last online meeting of May on Friday. Here is another activity from our school counsellor. This activity is meant for children from PRESCHOOL TO GRADE 3. The parent and child take turns being the leader where the parent holds the child’s hand in theirs and when one person says “switch”, that person decides what to draw. It is best if the parent remains calm, curious and interested in both the process and the product. The parent can invite the child to do the activity and should allow for as much control as the child wishes while they are drawing together. Some children may want more control than others during this activity and it is the parents responsibility not to judge but rather reflect and accept. The image could simply be marks on a page or a detailed image can be created. Parents should stay at the developmental level of the child and try not to draw anything more sophisticated. Together, when the image is complete, the parent and child can decide what they would like to do with the drawing. |
